The World Equestrian Center (WEC) is an expansive, beautiful facility that hosts many free events year-round. With two hotels, multiple restaurants, and fun shops, WEC feels like a tiny bit of Las Vegas in the center of Ocala. And since there is ample free parking, it’s definitely worth a visit. Plan on wandering the property and browsing the shops or stay longer for a meal. My favorite food picks are Ralph’s and Filo’s. Ralph’s has enormous sandwiches and burgers and Filo’s serves up Mexican fare.
WEC Pro tip: Check the event schedule. If you’re in town between December and March, drop in to a Saturday night Grand Prix. It’s world-class sport under the lights and the atmosphere is intense, even for non-horsey people. The restaurants and bars are open, so you can grab a bite and a drink to enjoy the show. Parking is free and admission is usually free.
